Program Descriptions:

New to Hockey: Our New to Hockey program is designed to help ease players into organized hockey. Players will be introduced to basic skating fundamentals: how to skate, glide, stop, go backwards -the PROPER way!

Beginner stickhandling skills will taught, how to receive a pass, and makea pass using give & go drills. Camp ends with a variety of mini-battles, obstacle course, or relay races to foster competitive spirit in a cooperative manner. Players will be divided into groups based on their skill & ability in order to maximize learning.

U9/U11 - Powerskating and Puck Control: This camp will help players work on strengthening their stride mechanics, acceleration, tight turns, backwards skating, forward & backward edge control, pivots & crossovers – both with & without pucks. Fundamental puck protection techniques will be taught, so players can control the puck, both using forehand and backhand – in open ice or around your opponent.

U13/U15/U18 Shooting and Battles: In this Camp, players will learn to maximize their strength in their position as:
FORWARDS
Refine the Shooting Mechanics of the wrist shot, backhand & snapshot (if ready) to beat goalies / Learn how to use proper body positioning to gain possession / Effectively use proper puck protection techniques & alter your shooting angles to score under pressure / Increase their knowledge on the best shot selection based on the scenario / Work on Deceptive Scoring: learn fakes, dekes, alter shooting angles to create open net space.
DEFENCE
Refine Shooting Mechanics of the wrist shot and slapshot (if ready)/
Manage gap control / Proper angling & pinning opponent to the boards / Develop good habits to protect the house / Proper puck retrievals / Defending 1v1, defending 2v1

U13/U15/U18 Powerskating and Shooting Intensive: This Camp is ideal for the older player wanting to inject speed & power over their forward & backward edges, lateral moves, acceleration & quick starts, stops, pivots & Mohawks etc. 25mins will be dedicated to technical corrections on Shooting technique
for wristshot, backhand, snapshot & slapshot. Players will be challenged with various game-related combination moves, so they can become an efficient two way player.
