Parent On-Ice Helpers are volunteers who assist certified coaches during practices at the younger age levels U7 and U9. They help run drills, support skill development, and ensure players stay safe and engaged on the ice.

This role is ideal for parents who want to be involved in a hands-on way and support a positive learning environment.

1. Parent On-Ice Helpers are permitted with the U7 and U9 Divisions only. Parent On-Ice Helpers are not permitted for the U11 and higher divisions.
2. The maximum number of parents in the role of On-Ice Helpers that is permitted for the U7 and U9 Division is three (3).
3. Parent On-Ice Helpers are permitted to act in this role for one (1) season only. After completing one season as an On-Ice Helper, if the parent wishes to assist with a team on the ice, they must apply to be a Head Coach or Assistant Coach.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must be registered with Hockey Canada as a volunteer
• CRC - Criminal Record Check - every 3 years
• CATT - Concussion Awareness Training - online course
• New! Shift Forward Online Course. This training will be replacing the Respect in Sport – Activity Leader Course. 
• Must be under the supervision of a certified coach at all times

The Team Treasurer is responsible for managing the team’s finances, including budgeting, tracking team fees, and providing financial transparency to families.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collect and manage team fees
• Maintain a detailed budget and record of all team expenses
• Provide regular financial updates to team families and head coach
• Submit final budget and receipts to the association at season end

REQUIREMENTS

• No formal certifications required
• Strong organizational and financial tracking skills preferred
• Criminal Record Check may be requested depending on role and access to funds.

The Jr. Mentor Program is designed to give older players the opportunity to give back to the game by supporting younger age groups as an On-Ice Helper. It’s a great way for players to develop leadership skills, build confidence, and inspire the next generation of female hockey players.

Jr. Mentors assist coaches during practices, encourage younger players, and help create a fun and supportive environment for learning. Whether helping tie skates, demonstrating drills, or simply being a positive role model, mentors play a key role in strengthening our hockey community.

Participation in the program may count toward volunteer and community service credits.

ELIGIBILITY

• Must be a U15, U18, or U21 player in good standing
• Must be at least two years older than the age division they’re helping with
• Must be registered with Hockey Canada as a player
• Must wear full CSA-approved hockey gear, including a helmet with cage, if the on-ice helper is under 16 years old
• Must demonstrate leadership, responsibility, and a positive attitude
• Must be approved by their coach and the association.
• Must be under the supervision of a certified coach at all times

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

• Age 15 and below - no certification required
• Age 16 and above - Shift Forward Course
• Age 18 and above - Criminal Record Check (on ice helpers that are 17 turning 18 in the calendar year are required to have a CRC)

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

• Age 14 and below - full equipment
• Age 15 to 17 - helmet with full face mask, neck guard, gloves
• 18 and above - helmet, gloves

Team Moms play a key role in supporting the team off the ice. Their primary responsibility is to monitor the dressing room before and after practices and games, ensuring player safety and appropriate conduct by following Hockey Canada's Dressing Room policy of the Rule of Two—which requires that two screened adults are present at all times when interacting with players in private settings.
