VOLUNTEER POLICY

Volunteers are the heart of the Tri-Cities Female Ice Hockey Association. From coaches and team staff to tournament volunteers and event helpers, the time and dedication of our families make it possible to deliver a safe, organized, and memorable hockey experience for every player. To ensure the workload is shared fairly across our growing association, every family is expected to contribute throughout the season.

TCFIHA members are required to volunteer in the following tiers:

ASSOCIATION

TOURNAMENT

TEAM

Tier 1 - Association

  • Every family is required to complete a minimum of one (1) Association volunteer shift during the season. This requirement is PER FAMILY.
  • Coaching and approved team staff positions (Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Manager, HCSP, and Treasurer) fulfill this requirement.

Tier 2 - Tournament

  • Every family is required to complete tournament volunteer shifts during our tournaments.
  • Tournament volunteer sign-ups and assignments will be communicated through your team later in the season.

Tier 3 - Team

  • Each team will have volunteer responsibilities throughout the season, including scorekeeping, timekeeping, fundraising, and other team activities.
  • Your Head Coach or Team Manager will communicate these expectations once teams are formed.

*Volunteer commitments are based on completing shifts, not a minimum number of hours. This approach helps ensure all operational areas are adequately staffed.

Please note: Peak times during the season require extra help beyond the minimums. Families should be prepared to take on additional shifts if needed.

TRACKING SHIFTS

The association will keep track of the association and tournament volunteer shifts. Team managers will be responsible for keeping track of each family's volunteering for their teams.

*Important: Please note that if the required volunteer hours are not completed by the end of the season, a $200 invoice will be issued and must be paid at the end of the season.
