Thanks to the Hockey Canada Foundation, seven-year-old Everly Bain is still a part of the game she has loved since she was a baby, playing with her friends and improving every time she steps on the ice with the Tri-Cities Female Hockey Association.

They can’t play games, so the U-11 girl's team from Tri-Cities Female Hockey challenged 9 other teams to a skate- a-thon for charity.

The day after the fire, Monica received an email from Heather Fox, the president of the Tri-City Predators female hockey association where Hailey has been playing for three years, reassuring her that efforts were already in motion to ensure her daughter could keep playing.

Tri Cities Female Ice Hockey Association U11 C2 team came up with the idea to host a skate-a-thon this year, quickly rallying 10 other teams as challengers and raising over $25,000 for a local non-profit charity.

“Female hockey is important,” Campbell said. “But it’s something that is behind the eight ball on everything hockey is doing.”

In an uncertain season of fitful starts and stops as well as a fluid landscape of rules and health protocols for all sports, the Tri-City Predators female hockey association has found a silver lining.
