Coaching – Tri Cities Female Ice Hockey

REQUIREMENTS

Anyone interested in helping as a Head Coach, Assistant Coach or an On-ice Helper is required to fill out an application.

U7 & U9 Coaching Requirements

Criminal Record Check (CRC) & Vulnerable Sector Check (VS) - expires every 3 years - MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE YOUR FIRST ICE TIME
CATT Training Tool - by September 30th
Respect In Sport (RIS) - expires every 5 years - by September 30th
Coach 1 - Intro to Coaching (or previous Coach 2 - Coach Level Qualification)

PARENT ON-ICE HELPERS - ONLY FOR U7 AND U9

Parent On-Ice Helpers are permitted with the U7 and U9 Divisions only. Parent On-Ice Helpers are not permitted for the U11 and higher divisions.
The maximum number of parents in the role of On-Ice Helpers that is permitted for the U7 and U9 Division is three.
Any required courses/certification for On-Ice Helpers will be covered by the team that they are assisting with through their Team Fees.
Parent On-Ice Helpers are permitted to act in this role for one season only. After completing one season as an On-Ice Helper, if the parent wishes to assist with a team on the ice, they must apply to be a Head Coach or Assistant Coach.

House Coaching Requirements - "C" Level Teams - U11C to U21C

Coach 2 - Coach Level - Must be completed by December 15th. Post task most be submitted to TCFIHA Coaching Coordinator by March 1st.
Head Coaches only MUST take and additional course on Checking (U11, U13, U15, U18)
Respect In Sport (RIS) - Must be completed by September 30th. Expires every 5 years
Criminal Record Check (CRC) - Must be completed by September 1st. Expires every 3 years.
CATT Training Tool - Must be completed by September 1st.

Rep Coaching Requirements - "A" Level Teams - U13A, U15A, U18A

Development 1 Certification - Must be completed by December 1st. Post task must be submitted to the TCFIHA Coaching Coordinator by March 1st
Instructional Stream - Checking (Head coach only)

All Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches and On-ice Helpers are subject to TCFIHA Board approval.

SELECTION PROCESS

HEAD COACHES

Both Rep & House, applicants are required to submit the following prior to their interview:
1. Coaching Resume
2. Coaching Philosophy
3. Season Plan
4. 2 practice plans

INTERVIEW

Rep Head Coaches - We will be scheduling an interview with all applicants after the application deadline
House Head Coaches - will be interviewed and determined towards the start of the season as teams are formed.

CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK

All coaches and on-ice helpers are required to have a current Criminal Record Check BEFORE the first ice session of the season.
