DO YOU HAVE A HCR#?

If you are new to our Association, you may need to have a HCR#, if you don't already have one.

A HCR# is issued by Hockey Canada and can take up to 5 days to receive.

Our Registrar will register your player with Hockey Canada.
Hockey Canada will issue your player's new HCR# and send it to our Registrar. (Hockey Canada does not send you the HCR#)

CATT - Concussion Awareness Training

Complete by: September 1st

Cost: Free

All BC Hockey team officials (head coaches, assistant coaches, managers, HCSP, team moms) are required to be qualified in the Concussion Awareness Training Tool (CATT) prior to their participation in any practice or game.

As a sports leader, BC Hockey is bringing concussion awareness to the forefront to ensure the safety of all participants and that team officials are aware and educated on concussion protocol and the Hockey Canada return to play procedure.

HCSP - Hockey Canada Safety Person

The Hockey Canada Safety Program utilizes a proactive, preventative, common sense approach to keeping our children safe. The goal of the program is for the safety people to implement effective risk management programs with their own teams where player safety is the first priority at all times, both on and off the ice. The safety person is an individual that has become HCSP qualified. This program must be successfully completed every three years in order to be a team’s safety person, even if the individual is a medical professional.

On-ice Helpers - Athlete

THE INTENT OF ON-ICE HELPERS

The intent for On-Ice Helpers is to provide a female role model for our young female athletes, encourage parents to explore becoming a coach, allow older TCFIHA players graduating players to give back to the TCFIHA younger teams, and/or allow older players to obtain their high school volunteer hours.
On-Ice helpers are not permitted to coach in any way at any time.
On-Ice helpers are permitted to move pucks, set up cones, demonstrate drills, and other similar tasks assigned by the Head Coach.
On-Ice helpers are not permitted to be on the bench during games.
On-Ice Helpers that are TCFIHA players must be a player within U11 or higher to participate in this role.

Any on-ice helpers must be a current registered member of BC Hockey/Hockey Canada.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Age 15 and below - no certification required
Age 16 and above - Respect in Sport
Age 18 and above - Criminal Record Check (on ice helpers that are 17 turning 18 in the calendar year are required to have a CRC)

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

Age 14 and below - full equipment
Age 15 to 17 - helmet with full face mask, neck guard, gloves
18 and above - helmet, gloves

On-ice Helpers -Parents - U7 & U9 ONLY

PARENT ON-ICE HELPERS - ONLY FOR U7 AND U9

Parent On-Ice Helpers are permitted with the U7 and U9 Divisions only. Parent On-Ice Helpers are not permitted for the U11 and higher divisions.
The maximum number of parents in the role of On-Ice Helpers that is permitted for the U7 and U9 Division is three.
Any required courses/certification for On-Ice Helpers will be covered by the team that they are assisting with through their Team Fees.
Parent On-Ice Helpers are permitted to act in this role for one season only. After completing one season as an On-Ice Helper, if the parent wishes to assist with a team on the ice, they must apply to be a Head Coach or Assistant Coach.
