REFEREES

TCFIHA is committed to developing confident, capable officials from within our hockey community. Our Referee Program offers opportunities for both new and returning officials to gain experience, build leadership skills, and contribute to the game in a meaningful way.

TCFIHA prioritizes the development of female referees from within the association. Assignment priority is given to qualified TCFIHA players, fostering growth and experience in a supportive environment. Our Referee-in-Chief and experienced officials provide mentorship, ensuring that new referees are paired with seasoned mentors whenever possible.

Referees are compensated according to the PCAHA official allowance schedule, which is reviewed every three years. Rates vary based on division and the number of officials assigned to a game.

PCAHA OFFICIALS ALLOWANCES

PCAHA Referee/Linesperson expense allowances are reviewed every three years. At the PCAHA AGM on May 29, 2022, the PCAHA membership approved increases to the expense allowance schedule in consideration of increased expenses incurred by officials, such as gas and equipment.

** When three on-ice officials are assigned to a game but fewer than the assigned number appear, those official(s) in attendance shall be paid the single referee expense allowance per the corresponding 2-Official System rate.
