We’re proud to recognize four exceptional referees who have gone above and beyond this season. These individuals have demonstrated professionalism, dedication, and a true passion for the game—on and off the ice.
Each of them was nominated with heartfelt comments that reflect the impact they’ve made within our hockey community.
Meet our award-winning officials!

 

Taisiya Maksimenko – Referee of the Year

Taya has proven to be one of our most promising & dedicated officials. She is always reliable with her assignments, and an avid participant in referee clinics. Her dedication to improving has shown over the season. She has also helped shadow and mentor our new officials. Taya is a huge asset to the association’s referee roster.

 

Shaelynn Newbrook – Referee Rookie of the Year

The feedback from supervisors state that Shaelynn is a very coachable referee who absorbs feedback and wants to improve. She was available more often than not to work games, even in the early mornings.

 

Cassia Homenuk – Most Improved Referee of the Year

Cassia had a great rookie year, working considerable games and making the way to have no shadow early in the season. She was always willing & able to work al levels she qualified for, including U7 & U9. She is setting the table for a great 2nd season as an official.

 

Janella Sowick – Most Dedicated Referee of the Year

Janella is always very reliable, requesting many games and even taking last minute assignments when requested. She was also a key person in our training of new officials.
